Presents

Education in Emerging India : Perspective & Way Forward

A Session for School Teachers & School Administrators

Date: 31st August 2020, Monday | Time: 4 p.m. onwards

Dear Mr. ,

Greetings from Alumnorum Societas and The Indian Chamber of Commerce!

Schools – both Primary and Secondary are the institutions that play the crucial role of bringing infants to the cusp of adulthood. It is in schools that we develop and form our core skills, knowledge and principles. It is thus essential that we have an ongoing discussion amongst all stakeholders on what we can do to ensure that we can effectively prepare students to be both intellectually curious and socially responsible adults.

Over the decades, there has been considerable evolution and change in the parameters that govern our educational institutions and systems: run. Three areas of particular interest are:

  1. Curriculum: Which subjects are taught, what is the appropriate breadth and depth of knowledge imparted. How does this evolve as the frontiers of human knowledge are broadened?

  2. Learning & Teaching Methodology: How is the material transmitted to the students. How do we measure outcomes and calibrate the delivery technique accordingly? How do we ensure that technology does not confer undue and overwhelming advantage to one section of society?

  3. Value System and Discipline: Schools also have a vital role in preparing children to be responsible members of society. Classrooms are where values and many social norms are re-enforced. How do we decide the best way to conduct classrooms and impart the corresponding socialization skills?

In a diverse country like India, we need to find solutions that can address a national objective while addressing the regional perspectives.

In this backdrop, Indian Chamber of Commerce ( ICC ) together with Alumnorum Societas (Old Boys Association of St. Xavier’s Collegiate School, Kolkata) are hosting a thought provoking Interactive Session entitled “Education in Emerging India”.
